The Milan design week has just come to an end and we are very happy that we could visit it once again. We traded in office mornings and dates with our laptops for wandering the streets of the design and fashion capital of Italy. Spending a week here, spotting trends, seeing so many installations and speaking to suppliers got us so inspired that we can’t wait to start creating again ourselves.
We have mentioned before that fashion trends often flow over into interiors. And indeed, in Milan we saw what we have spotted in last years Vogue.
Pastels are definitely on trend! On their own or a combination of tones, everything goes. We loved seeing the a perfect example of how fashion meets function, comfort and style at Muuto. Their new Oslo side chair is a beauty and on our wish list for dining room designs.
Another translated fashion trend is the use of corduroy as upholstery. We have a big crush on the chairs we saw at Normann Copenhagen. The thick cords are really something distinctive.
It does not get more Nordic then using wood in combination with sheep skin. An incredibly comfortable element that we welcome with open arms as this will be a true statement piece in your home. Our favorite one was at &tradition where we attended the preview. The space alone was a pleasure to be in as nothing gets us more inspired then concrete, old industrial elements in combination with classic Nordic design.
Apparently gold is the new black. We saw a lot of brass and golden accents on furniture. Besides that, the gold colored mirrors are still very much on trend and the same goes for lighting. These golden accents are perfect for giving your interior a more full and rich feeling. It combines so well with minimalistic design.
It was a week well spent. We are ready to translate what we saw into our designs. What is your favorite trend or what would you like us to start working with? We are keen to know.
