Although time flies by so fast that we are practically thinking about our Christmas decorations again, we kicked off this year with a room for a young adult. We absolutely love doing adult spaces and have been working on quite a few lately. Due to the fact that we once started with kids rooms sometimes gives the impression that that’s all we do yet we love mixing it up now.
The space we styled last week is for a 17 year old gentleman. We begun with a beautiful dark yet warm grey on the walls. As we have mentioned before, painting a wall (or if you really want to be bold: all walls) will instantly change the vibe of the room. For a young adult, this Elegant Grey (Jotun 1434) is a versatile, strong and steady color.
We are very eager to show you the custom made cabinet in this room. We are developing a few furniture pieces with the Live Loud Girl signature in collaboration with a local carpenter. Goal is to be selling theses furniture pieces and to use them in our room designs as often as we can. The cabinet is made a high quality plywood. Basic yet sleek making sure this storage space and one of the key elements in the room.
The wall color, the natural wood and the deep red Rozenkelim rug for us is a winning combination. With the two loungers which were already part of the original room design, this side of the room will be very popular.
On the opposite side you can find the large bed with 3 prints. The great thing about prints is that it is one of the best ways to update a room. Whenever kids or adults grow out of something you can change prints without touching anything else. And with so many great designers out there, it is a matter of choosing your favorites.
With the use of just one leg of the Ikea FROSTA stool we created a holder for the burgendy &Tradition light which is in the same color as the custom made cabinet. The light is quit big for a wall light so we needed a holder on the wall to give it space to hang.
How? Just drill two small holes in the FROSTA leg, pull through the cable and reconnect the plug. This can obviously be done with other lights as well.

What a great start of the year we had with installing this beautiful space. The room is ready and we are fired up for the next installation…
Being in a rental home can sometimes be a pro, sometimes a con. What we have learned in our previous rentals is that making a house your home can be a challenge. Especially if fundamental elements like the color on the wall, the type of floor or structural design is not totally up your street.
For those who have followed my latest move might know project #Getridofuglytiles.
As I am a Northern European girl, I got over my ‘let-me-not-invest-too-much-in-a-rental-home’ fear and went for something that makes this house feel like it is my own: a wooden floor.
I fell for the Kährs Ash Blizzard wood when I saw it at Nordic Homeworx, the official agent for Kährs in the UAE & Middle East. They carry a very broad range of Swedish wooden floors and ever since we worked with them for client Installations and photo shoots, we have been eying their beautiful products. When we decided to move house, I knew I would do it right from the start. So on top of my wish list (read: demand list) was this extra white toned floor with a matte finish.
Wooden floors make a home cool when it is hot and warm when it is cool. Having natural opposed to synthetic materials in your home, makes your living experience much more pleasant. The feel of it, the smell of it… this is what I have longed for so long.
A new floor in your home is quite an investment, especially when you rent. Yet if you want to make a place feel like your own, investing in basic elements is a must. And the best thing is: we can call this beauty our own now as it will not be left behind. The entire floor can be removed again, packed up and put into our next home. How is that for being clever?
This house has such a different feel to it now. I can assure you, investing in your rental is totally worth it!
As interior stylists, we face many styling related challenges which vary from order lead times to finding the perfect accessory and anything in between.
Yet in our latest project, a summer house with 4 spaces to be styled by us, we came across a real challenge. We were asked to create a room for an 11 year old boy. The real challenge lies not in the lack of inspiration but more in the fact that it needs to appeal to a teenager and remain enjoyable for the coming years.
For us, styling a nursery is always a special project. Not only because it will be the first room for a newborn, it is also a place where parents spend time bonding with their baby making them memorable in style and design.
This particular room is one of the five rooms we were asked to design for a beautiful villa on Zaya Nurai Island. A dream project in size, creativity and variety allowing us to reflect the true Live Loud Girl style.
