I have had a profound love for any Eames design for as long as I can remember. That explains how my Eames Lounge Chair , the first piece of design furniture I bought for myself, always takes up the best place in our living room. After quite some years of also happily using Vitra products in our styling, we were invited to come to the source: The Vitra Campus so in Weil am Rhein, Switzerland.
The Vitra Campus is simultaneously a fully operational production site and a field of experimentation for architecture and design. For design and architecture enthusiast like me, it is a place where you can drool all day. The architecture of every single building and sculpture is out of this world, making it one of the most creative and inspirational places I have ever seen.
It is a special time to visit this unique place as is reintroducing the Eames chair in it’s original material of Fibre glass. A truly unique design that has resisted going out of style. Fashion is quick, styles change yet a with good design you can grasp a moment and keep it for ever. It becomes timeless.
The fibre glass gives this piece the perfect touch of vintage. The irregular surface and functional form makes this chair charming. It is a piece with real character and one of my old time favorite pieces. It’s been launched in 6 original colors of which the elephant grey is on my wishlist.
Another highlight in a long range of them was the Furniture Archive. A space that is normally closed for the public yet was now open for the launch with Vitra Chairman Rolf Fehlbaum. To see so many valuable, treasured and relevant design in one room is a dream come true for us after almost five years of Live Loud Girl.
This is officially Design Heaven…
