Is there anything better than being on a holiday whilst staying in your own house? Being somewhere else yet sleeping in your own bed? Enjoying another country but sitting on the sofa you love?
When you have your own holiday home, I can tell you, you get the best of both worlds.
We finished the renovations of a small holiday home on the Dutch coast at the beginning of the year. The idea behind it is that it’s the place we stay at when visiting friends and family back home. Because there is only so much of suitcase living and sleeper couch sleeping you want to do on your well deserved holiday. Especially as a family of four.
So it is truly our home away from home and we wanted to give it that final finishing touch now that we had the chance to be there.
When it came to the interior, we wanted to work with many of our favorite brands and pieces, giving this home a signature Live Loud Girl look and feel. Yet a big part of the way we work is trying to make it personal. That is often done by adding small treasures and unique items to complete the design. As this is a beach house, we loved adding easy going neutral colors. The outdoor area, being a real extension of the home, got the same amount of attention with comfortable sofa’s, a large table and some cute accessories.
During our stay here, we were able to visit some of the flee markets in this area. We love to add a local treasure and a vintage element to a place. Have you spotted the wire fish in the bedroom?
And as a project is never done, we also made some changes to the house.
In the living room we created a bit more space by hanging the surf board and swapping some things around. We added new prints by Rowan Sterenbergs and on the last day, painted an old little table black.
We had a few incredible weeks at our home away from home. The weather was very kind to us, we stocked up on quality time with the family, Dutch treats and fresh air.
