COFFEE TIME

Being a coffee enthusiast ánd an interior stylists gives me ample opportunity to make sure my coffee break does not only satisfy my caffeine craving, it also pleases my eyes. Call us  fanatics, but drinking from a certain cup and making the whole counter esthetically look good just makes us very happy.

On a recent sourcing trip we came across some beautiful items that will make our morning coffee breaks a treat for the brain and mind. Even though we are very aware that the  terrazzo look was on trend a few years ago, we still love this pot. It gives my counter a vintage feel together with an old cup that I bought on a market in France.

Like with our installations we love to mix it up. Using items with some heritage and combining them with something new can create another feel. Even though these changes are small, it just makes our coffee moments a little bit better then they already were.

MY NEW HOME – MY NEW FLOOR

Being in a rental home can sometimes be a pro, sometimes a con. What we have learned in our previous rentals is that making a house your home can be a challenge. Especially if fundamental elements like the color on the wall, the type of floor or structural design is not totally up your street.
For those who have followed my latest move might know project #Getridofuglytiles.
As I am a Northern European girl, I got over my ‘let-me-not-invest-too-much-in-a-rental-home’ fear and went for something that makes this house feel like it is my own: a wooden floor.

I fell for the Kährs Ash Blizzard wood when I saw it at Nordic Homeworx, the official agent for Kährs in the UAE & Middle East. They carry a very broad range of Swedish wooden floors and ever since we worked with them for client Installations and photo shoots, we have been eying their beautiful products. When we decided to move house, I knew I would do it right from the start. So on top of my wish list (read: demand list) was this extra white toned floor with a matte finish.

Wooden floors make a home cool when it is hot and warm when it is cool. Having natural opposed to synthetic materials in your home, makes your living experience much more pleasant. The feel of it, the smell of it… this is what I have longed for so long.

A new floor in your home is quite an investment, especially when you rent. Yet if you want to make a place feel like your own, investing in basic elements is a must. And the best thing is: we can call this beauty our own now as it will not be left behind. The entire floor can be removed again, packed up and put into our next home. How is that for being clever?

This house has such a different feel to it now. I can assure you, investing in your rental is totally worth it!

HAPPY NEW WALL

New year, fresh starts, big plans.

With no resolutions on paper and no intention to change anything, we look forward to our calendars  that are slowly but surely filling up with projects, trips, plans and ideas.

To start off this year well, I wanted to add the last finishing touches to my ‘new’ home. Creating my own art wall, like we have done before with clients, was one thing I had on my wish list. It makes me so happy to see my absolute favorite prints and photo’s each day.
Is this also something you would like to try? We have added some tips and tricks below on how to make it look clean, organised and neat (you know me….).

In terms of work, we have some beautiful installations planned. Live Loud Girl will also be going on tour by visiting Playtime Paris again this month to meet some of our fantastic suppliers and hopefully discover some new brands and products.

As we have already entered week 2 of this year, we better get our routines back on track, our coffee supply stocked and our office desks dusted. We are ready to make this a great one and we hope you will join us!

CREATING AN ART WALL  A LA LIVE LOUD GIRL

                      DO                                                                                             DON’T

– Let artwork flow around                                              – Hang artwork too far apart
– Use some common horizontal lines                       – Hang it too high up from the furniture
– Use different spacings                                                  – Use the same space gaps between frames
– Use bigger flames and prints                                     – Line them all up
– Plan your gallery up front or draw it                      – Use all the same type of frames
on paper with exact sizes                                              – Try to make it too perfect
– Mix size, style, print and photography
in a lively and convincing way

WELCOME TO THE NEW HOME

I finally got the time to show you our new home! The last boxes are unpacked! We have officially settled in our new house.
A rental home that feels less of a temporary place due to the fact that we were able to have a say in a lot of the finishes. So after years of ugly rental tiles we could not be more happy with our marble floor up stairs, upstairs our white Kahrs Ash Blizzard wooden floor, grey custom made storage cupboards and a rain shower to name a few.
