ROOM STYLING: PINK AND BLUE FOR YOU

We already knew that a girls room does not have to be pink and this room styling certainly proves it again. For this baby girls nursery, we worked with some items that the client wanted to keep, revamp and an absolute must have that the client was inspired by.

The greyish blue structured wall paper was already present in the room before it became a nursery and was a keeper. The vintage chair which came from  family needed a make over and on the wish list was a DIY IKEA hack and a collection of rattan mirrors which have been used by another stylist before and where a must have for this nursery. Luckily this stylist happens to be Sarah Sherman Samuel, someone who we admire and have been following since who knows when.

We started with this DIY for the changing table and used a Tarva dresser inspired by Sarah’s DIY Hack and gave it the minty tone, yet added our own touch. We wanted to make it a bit deeper, creating more space for the little one to be changed. For the handle bars we used polished wood which goes very well with the other features in the room and the mirrors above it. A white Studio Snowpuppe light was chosen for the necessary light and to give a bit of modern touch to the vintage look of the mirrors and dresser.

The chair was painted in a midnight blue and we had it upholstered with a same color velvet, a fabric that is very on trend at the moment and keeps it classic. A girly touch: the Dumye doll that is waiting there for the bedtime stories.

For the crib we chose the subtle pink and birch Caravane from Kalon studios which was an absolute dream to use for the first time. With the romantic bedding from the cute Camomile of London, this dream domain is ready for a sleepy baby.

Another pink touch was added in the Custom made fluo pink Beni Ouarain rug by RozenKelim. It was so exiting to see this being hand made in Morocco and it came so fabulous.

What makes this room perfectly mismatched are the accessories. The Party whale from Scalaë, the La Fete party hats and the Pax and Hart Frankie poster make this overall harmonious room a perfect  place for a sweet and cheeky little baby girl. This is the room she will be growing up in, dreaming of the many adventures that she will go on.
