What is the difference between a house and a home? A space and a room? What makes a random area in your house a sanctuary you want to escape to?
At the Milan Design Week we literally kept walking into a new trend that opened our eyes. It is a theme that is all about how connecting with people is more important then ever. ‘Everything is connected’ was not only the title of Jotun‘s design exhibition, we also felt this proposition at brands like IKEA, Carl Hansen and Son, Vitra and many more.
Outside the walls of our home we are constantly connected to the world by social encounters via our numerous devices. With an overload of data we come home in the evenings with our brains still working overtime.
Yet creative ideas are mostly born by connecting with others, talking, discussing, brainstorming and laughing. And that is why our home, like never before, ideally is a place to disconnect the devices and connect with each other.
We feel that a house could be anyones, a home tells a story. Your story. It reflects our personality and is the space where memories are made. The furniture around you should make you happy and can change according to the phase of life that you are in. To us, changing our interior always brings in good vibes and new ideas.
Converting spaces to rooms in your home means bringing in furniture that allows you to connect. Sitting across each other is more inviting then sitting next to each other. Make your kitchen tables larger, your TV sofa’s smaller…
As true Instagram and wifi addicts, we understand that turning off completely is mere to impossible and not something we desire. One of our go to kids fashion platforms Smallable is launched this exclusive capsule collection created in partnership with Stella McCartney kids. This beautiful organic collection totally embodies what our weekends are all about. Where the house is relatively calm and peaceful during the week, the weekends have more similarities with a zoo. It is all about letting the boys out and unleashing the wild animal within.
It is mid term break, it is the weekend, it is all fun and games at our house. Having two boys is high energy, laugh hard, play hard.
For this energetic season I ordered some and sportively fun items from Bobo Choses. An old time favorite brand since the day my kids were born. This Barcelona based brand captures the magical, passionate look and language of children – as they put it themselves. We love the fun designs and subtle playful colors. It puts a smile on everyones face in this house. Next to the fashion items they created some additional interior wannahaves of which the pennant which carries out the message ” sometimes you win, and sometimes you learn” absolutely belongs to the favourites of this Legend collection.
As we have just waved our Dutch Saint Nicholas goodbye and are gearing up for the school break, we are ready for the festive holiday. On paper….because with the sun still out and our flip flops still on, Christmas still feels far away.
As we will be singing our carols under a tree elsewhere, we want to keep our decorations really simple this year. Yet we just can not let this cozy time pass us by unseen. So focus on green, back to the basic with a touch a lights
